While this issue is not typical LQ material, we LQ users do represent an international set of geeks and nerds, perhaps with some intelligence advantage, but certainly with some capability for independent thinking. How do we fix the US Congress?
- term limits?
- more restrictive educational requirements?
- math-based law restricting gerrymandering?
- random selection of members every decade or two?
- incorporate some characteristics of a parliamentary system?
- call a Constitutional Convention?
Hmmm? Probably none of the above, but what?

I personally like the math-based law restricting gerrymandering.
If we remember that the House of Representatives exists to ensure that the interests of specific communities are heard, then the system is actually working as intended.Posted 10-03-2013 at 03:11 PM by vmccord
