What's wrong with the terminal?

Posted 10-04-2009 at 09:59 AM by DragonSlayer48DX

[RANT] I get a little tired sometimes of hearing people complain about using the terminal, so here's my story:

A couple years ago, the Automatic Updater on my daughter's XP machine stopped working. Attempting to update manually only gave an error number, so, I contacted Microsoft, and guess what? I had to open the Run dialog box, and type a lengthy string of commands and parameters to fix the problem! Imagine that! So for all of you who think Windows is 'CLI-free', guess again! On a related note, that Joe Sixpack who most often complains about the CLI seems to revel in his own ignorance. If I ever meet him, I will strongly advise him to stop whining and make the effort to learn something in order to drag himself out of the pit of mediocrity he seems to like wallowing in so much!

My 2 cents: Most of the people that complain about using CLI are in the class of the same people that would walk around a pile of trash rather than pick it up and throw it away.

It does not make sense to me, they put forth twice the effort avoiding the job that it would take to do the job to start with.
