Hi

My final attempt at solving the issue fails. I tried another tool called pulsemixer but that to did not work. I'm afraid i don't have any more solutions as of now. I would keep working on this and the sooner i find a solution I would let you know about it.

I was building aryalinux 64 bit on my system the other day and I ended with the same issue as you have mentioned here. Strange, I never got this issue before but only now. Anyways, I also have an Intel HD audio sound card and I too ended up with no sound. There was no sound from system notifications as well as no sound from firefox. VLC though worked fine. This is what I did to get it resolved:

Open up /etc/alps/installed-list and remove entries of alsalib, alsautils, alsatools, alsafirmware and alsaplugins, pulseaudio, libmatemedia and mate-media. This is a protected file so you might have to do sudo to change it:

sudo pluma /etc/alps/installed-list

or

sudo vi /etc/alps/installed-list

Once those entries are removed, you need to install audio-video-plugins:

alps install audio-video-plugins

Then go ahead and reinstall the packages:

alps install alsa-lib alsa-utils alsa-tools alsa-firmware alsa-plugins alsa-oss pulseaudio mate-media

That should get it working. I also recompiled the kernel but I dont think that would be necessary. In case these steps dont work then please post back and I would share the config file with you so that you can rebuild the kernel.

Then after that is finish you want me to install alsa-lib alsa-utils alsa-tools alsa-firmware alsa-plugins alsa-oss pulseaudio mate-media But many of them are already installed when I installed audio-video-plugins in the line up

I am not sure I did it right Because I got no sound

From the installation list I see that you just installed alsa related packages on jun 8 and everything else was installed prior to that. That is what I asked you to do actually. You seemed to have done it right. Here are the links to two config files could you please rebuild kernel using them and see if it works. I have made few changes in the sound drivers part of the kernel config. Depending on whether you build 64 bit or 32 bit use either config:

wget aryalinux.org/files/config-4.5-x86_64 -O config-64
wget aryalinux.org/files/config-4.5-i686 -O config-32

In case you have the /sources directory then simply copy the config-64 and config-32 files into /sources. Edit the /sources/build-log file and remove the kernel entry. Save the file and run:

./kernel.sh

That would rebuild the kernel and generate the initrd.

In case you do not have /sources then:

sudo su

mkdir -pv /sources

cd /sources

Open up a terminal and enter the following commands as the normal user into which you usually log in:

EOF

In my latest build I had the same issue. This worked out for me.

p.s. For myself, I have a *VERY SLOW* internet, but like trying SMALL .iso's (esp LFS-based, like NuTyX!)
Could you point me to a NON-GUI 'base' SMALL Arya .iso? Thanks!

Thanks Jjanel. I would address his issue. I do have small ISOs that just have the base-system and build scripts but I have not uploaded them online. The reason being if any issue occurs during the installation process it becomes difficult to actually post bugs or post into forums like this. In a live system with a browser things become simple. There is another thing, as of now AryaLinux relies on network-manager to setup internet and installation of network-manager on the base system (Without DE) pulls in a lot of dependencies thus making the whole thing bulkier. Now, I can actually build a 300MB+ Live ISO that would boot into bash (without the source tarballs which can of course be downloaded in the beginning of installing the base system) but one would have to do a manual network connection possible. If that would not be an issue for you (am sure it would'nt be cause you're from the NuTyX landscape :-) ) I can for sure upload the ISO and you can take a look. I had never thought in this direction but surely would take a look. Seems interesting though. Thanks for the idea :-)
