Xorg issues - error(1) and error(2) when using -configure or startx

Hello! I registered on this site for this question, so it's my first time around here. I've been trying to set up x so I can use graphical stuff, but I get "server terminated with error(2) when I run Xorg -configure, and "server terminated with error(1) when I use startx. I have no idea what the issue is, maybe it's kernel? If so, I have no idea where to start.

I hope this is the right sub, I'm running Arch.

Thanks for any help!

What window manager are you using?
for gdm3
startgdm3
Change gdm3 to you wm
Try opening terminal as root.
Quote:
cd /
ls
You should see xorg.conf.new
Quote:
cp xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Make sure you've installed Twm, xorg-xclock and xterm unless you have a ~./xinitrc file made, as the default /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc will want those. Or install lxdm or the WM of your choice and run that instead, as suggested above.

[EDIT] Sorry if this is considered a necro post, not sure if this ever got resolved
