virtual height(0)is too samll for the hardware(min 1)
I just installed the archlinux v6.0,when I run startx,it faile,I use the 'xf86config'to configre it,and run "startx"again,it display "virtual height(0)is too samll for the hardware(min 1)",what does it means???
i know exactly what that means. you have to tell it what card you have, if you don't it will use VGA. vga only supports bit depth 8, if your card is not supported, at the end choose 8, not 16 or 24. if your card is supported you have to choose it. I had the same problem with slackware. unfortunatly, in 8 bit, you get 320x240 or something like that, terrible. LOOK AT THE CARD DATABSE WHEN IT ASKS YOU.

# Uncomment this to cause a core dump at the spot where a signal is
# received. This may leave the console in an unusable state, but may
# provide a better stack trace in the core dump to aid in debugging
# Option "NoTrapSignals"
# Uncomment this to disable the <Crtl><Alt><Fn> VT switch sequence
# (where n is 1 through 12). This allows clients to receive these key
# events.
# Option "DontVTSwitch"
# Uncomment this to disable the <Crtl><Alt><BS> server abort sequence
# This allows clients to receive this key event.
# Option "DontZap"
# Uncomment this to disable the <Crtl><Alt><KP_+>/<KP_-> mode switching
# sequences. This allows clients to receive these key events.
# Option "Dont Zoom"
# Uncomment this to disable tuning with the xvidtune client. With
# it the client can still run and fetch card and monitor attributes,
# but it will not be allowed to change them. If it tries it will
# receive a protocol error.
# Option "DisableVidModeExtension"
# Uncomment this to enable the use of a non-local xvidtune client.
# Option "AllowNonLocalXvidtune"
# Uncomment this to disable dynamically modifying the input device

# Option "DisableModInDev"
# Uncomment this to enable the use of a non-local client to

# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"

that's the problem. your using a driver that support 8 bits and 320x240. What video card do you have? maybe I can help. If you want X(no garauntees) change
Code:
DefaultDepth 16
to
Code:
DefaultDepth 8
. that will enable vga. if you want anything to be any good, i need to know your vid card
