unexpected happenstances, regarding installing 'Netflix'

Hey;

I wanted to get Netfiix on my Manjaro but I made mistakes. In the first part I tried to edit the “/etc/pacman.conf”, with '[pipelight] using LibreOffice Writer instead of a text editor. I failed to include;
'Server = http://repos.fds-team.de/stable/arch/$arch.' It was late and I did not realize my errors umtil the next day. I tried to make corrections to compensate the gaffs I made but as it turns out I was compounding things by mistakenly using Libre Writer. It was not until later that I used my text editor 'mousepad'.

I don't know if my using Libre Writer in the first place had anything to my not being able to get the "Add and Remove Software" Folder or the Software Update Folder to open, but the next day when I tried to open up “Add/Remove Software”, it did not open. Nor would “Software Update” open.

Then when I got it through my sometimes thick head and used as root;

“mousepad /etc/pacman.conf” I got this:

“(mousepad:2598): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita",

(mousepad:2598): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita",” I never discovered what followed the comma.

My mousepad text editor did open and I made the proper adjustments but the damage had been done. That was not all, oh no, when I tried to run this command:

“sudo pacman -Syu” This is what turns up:

“error: config file /etc/pacman.conf, line 1: All directives must belong to a section. ”

Here is what line 1 looks like:

I get that message seemingly regardless of what command I entered in the terminal, even Yaourt, I would get:

“error: config file /etc/pacman.conf, line 1: All directives must belong to a section. ”

I am wide open to any suggestions as to how I can correct things. My last alternative would be to do a complete reinstallment of my Manjaro, which I would like not to do.

can you post up your whole pacman.conf or link to it somewhere.
heard of issues like this before, sometimes its just a simple issue in the file. sometimes mirrorlists are broken.

do you have .pacnew or backups of the conf and mirror files?

Hey Vegan,

I won't be able to send you the upper and lower screenshots (total package) of /etc/pacman.conf. At least not the one containing the mistakes.

I also posted this quandary in the Manjaro Forum and got a response, which solved my problem.

https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?....0;attach=7072

I used the link (above) extracted it into /etc, it overwrote what had been in there and is well again. The difference is in the 'revised' edition '/etc/pacman.conf' is on the second line, I had had it on the first line, an error which prompted:

“error: config file /etc/pacman.conf, line 1: All directives must belong to a section. ”

So far all is back to how it should be.
