If you can do without KDE and a log-in manager (if you use one) that can cut time down (maybe: JWM, OpenBox, &c.) I also hear good things about compiling your own kernel (if you are willing to follow that rabbit ) and I like minimalistic installs (always pick "expert install") that assume nothing about what you want the system to do so you can tailor it to your needs (Arch is good for that.)
OK I have refreshed the page and restarted it but the "Similar Threads" doesn't change like my first thought so I must have searched here (LQ) for something to see more\better results and I'm sure some of those 10 ways still work, if the link did? Sorry.

It's difficult to be sure without seeing the `systemd-analyze critical-chain` output, but it looks like wicd is taking a while to come up...
You could try another connection method -- good old NetworkManager comes up in under a second.
The fastest method is to use dhcpcd.service and set up /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf correctly (dhcpcd.service has a hook which activates wpa_supplicant). https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...wpa_supplicant
You will need to disable wicd and enable dhcpcd instead:
