Reboot after vmlinux

Hi

i'm trying to install arch, tried both 6 and 7 but they rebooted after "ready" (just after loading vmlinuz & initrd)

so i'm trying with the live (0.5.1) but it does the same, thoug when using linux24 at boot it boots but stalls after "freeing unused kernel memory : 140k freed"

On this system i've had fedora 3 and slack 10 installed with no problems

Amd k6 III 500Mhz

Trident 3d image 375 gfx
cmipci soundcard

tried bootiing with only gfx + cdrom but no diffrence

Arch is an i686-optimised distribution and unfortunately that CPU is not fully i686-compatible. There is an i586 iso available, but the number of packages available in the i586 repo is limited so you will often have to build your own. Unless you will positively enjoy experimenting with this, you are probably better off with another distro on this machine as it certainly will not give you the full benefits of Arch.
