Problem accessing internet through motorola sb5100 surfboard


I'm having a really hard time connecting to the internet using the motorola sb5100 surfboard cable modem. When Arch trys to start the network its just says [fail] any suggestions?

First thing you should do is post much more information, because this is just not enough to diagnose the problem and we cannot read your mind. Just a friendly suggestion

PS
I don't own this modem myself, but from a little search I can see that using the USB connection with this modem is not the easiest route to a succesfull setup. On the other hand, using ethernet to connect seems to work out-of-the-box for many people.
