Lightbulb Portable social distro idea

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi everyone,

I'm looking to see if anyone is interested in a portable (small, live cd, pen drive) social Linux distro. By social I mean using the AUR, people easily being able to heavily customize it, and share their copy with everyone else. I was thinking of something similar to FaunOS. If I decide to make it, it will be based on Arch Linux.

Please tell me what you think. Further ideas are most welcome.

You'll need to think of a way of sharing configuration scripts on a public server between people or having the script parsed on a forum and allow the script to be downloaded.
Also look at the LiveCD/DVD programs available for each major distribution and see which build system you like.
You will need base systems to build on.
Knoppix is a good CD to study- the pre-ADRIANE release/(5.3)- because it comes preloaded with drivers.
You will also need somewhere to host your project- places are available- and room to rent for uploading files.

I have decided to base my system on arch linux (that's why it's in here), and use the wonderful larch scripts.
I'm currently working on customising an arch system. I'll put it up on the website soon.
This is a social distro. So it will really be created by the community. Basically what happens is people can play around with ideas, share their ideas with others, and easily impliment them. I've launched a forum for the new distro, which I am proposing to call "Social Linux". It's really up the community as to what to call it though.
Social Linux Forum
The url will be changing to something more appropriate in the next few days.
Please tell others about it, and feel free to sign up.
