No graphical Interface
Ok I installed everything I think all is going fine but when logged as root I typed startx and it gave this error:
(EE) Unable to locate /open config file (EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile () Fatal server error: no screen found then I type startx for the second time and says: XIO: fatal IO error 104 (conection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining Ok what is this? Is that arch linux doesn't install KDE or GNOME so I have to download them via pacman? and if that is correct how I download them and install via pacman? |
xfree problem
Have you tried configuring X? You need to do this manually before you can launch KDE/Gnome etc.
If you try running xf86cfg or xf86config and follow the instructions you should get it to work. If your display becomes garbled at any time during the config pres Ctl-Alt-Backspace IMMEDIATELY to kill X or you could damage your monitor. |
pacman -Sy
pacman -S gnome Jon |
Other question how do I get a PPPoA conecction to work on Arch???
