LILO Boatloader


I had a problem with the LILO in Arch...It doesn't recognize my win partition like the knoppix one does. You should know that i'm a complete newbie and have no idea what i'm doing...but anyones help would be nice. thanks in advance.

arch doesn't generate a perfect LILO conf file for you. Rather, it hands you a well documented .conf file with the arch part of it completed and leaves doing the rest for yourself if you need to.

I'd recommend installing grub instead though, it's easier to configure.

I would try Grub too. I believe Arch recommends it. But you will have to configure it yourself.

You should make sure you have a internet connection and are able to visit wiki.archlinux.org.
You will find howtos there to solve all your problems!

One final question: Why did you choose Archlinux? It is not a distro to start with when you are new to linux!

Yea, Arch doesnt generate it correctly =\
I guess thats why its intended for experienced users and manually configuring everything (I do mean everything)
