installing nvidia drivers on arch linux with a geforce 7300se/7200gs?
hey i'm trying to figure out in which order should i install stuff i mean do i have to install xorg first and then the nvidia drivers? or is it nvidia first and then xorg??
oh! and which driver should i install for my 7300se/7200gs? the one for the new cards or the one for the "old" ones as it says in the archwiki?? please help!. and thanks. i installed xorg first then nvidia, thanks... |
The order does not matter. You can install them all at the same time even. However, I do recommend that if you do nvidia first, and it pulls down xorg-server as a dependency, that you at some point use the -D option to mark it as explicit.
This will tell you which driver to use: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us You might also consider xf86-video-nouveau. Check out the "nvidia" article on the Arch wiki for some good info. |
PLEASE read the wiki
there is a link to it ON THE MAIN Arch page http://www.archlinux.org/ http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Main_Page the nvidia driver http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA the wiki IS THE INSTRUCTION book . ?? " do i have to install xorg first" ? read the instructions the install guide !!! http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/..._Install_Guide |
