How get Arch linux to recognize Koboglo HD ebook reader, or vice-versa

I got this Koboglo reader that I cannot transfer files to because Arch does not seem to recognize it as a device. dmesg gives me

Code:
/home/q $ dmesg|tail
[ 1409.704650] scsi 2:0:0:0: Direct-Access Kobo eReader-3.19.576 0110 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
[ 1409.705036] sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0
[ 1409.711855] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] 6614013 512-byte logical blocks: (3.39 GB/3.15 GiB)
[ 1409.819962] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
[ 1409.819969] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 0f 00 00 00
[ 1409.930002] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 1410.389964] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk
[ 1432.393557] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, device number 7
[ 1432.395533] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Synchronizing SCSI cache
[ 1432.395574] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Synchronize Cache(10) failed: Result: hostbyte=0x01 driverbyte=0x00
How can I get Arch recognize it as a live device?

This link https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=984157
discusses the issue of DPO and FUA, but not in a way relevant to this situation, so it left me none the wiser.

but it does recognize the device?

what do you get from
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
?

the UF article is from 2008; is that how old the device is?
some more info?

anyhow, this: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=linux+kobo+e+reader looks ok to me. as in, it's possible.

Thank you for thr response; fdisk and lsusb both show nothing for the device, dmesg is the only thing that refers to it at all. The device itself is new, just bought it, which made me wonder if its OS is new and not yet decoded by linux.

I do not believe it has a linux OS, though I've been unable to find any specific OS named, the device itself says its software version is 3.19.5761(Oe028f3185, 12/29/15), it behaves like android.

i searched this error message, and nothing stands out.
suggestions:

- try to connect the device to something else
- install all the gvfs packages you can find, reboot
- reboot anyway
- plug it in properly, with ever so little force, clean the plugs inside and outside... you know.

All it needed was just partial insertion of the usb plug in its socket, so I've wrapped a small rubber band around the base of it and it works fine now. Many thanks.
