Error using cgdisk during Arch installation

Trying to install arch for about the tenth time, and I get this error when I type "cgdisk /dev/sda"

"Could not load partitions from '/dev/sda'! Aborting!"

What can I do to fix this? I am seriously at my wits end.
I'm on a UEFI mobo, if that helps at all
