Moving back to Xfree 3.3.6

I have an ancient laptop with a cl 7543 graphics chip i have tried many distros and the only ones i can get an xwindow running on have xfree 3.3.6.
So my question is how easy is it to roll back to that version on amigo?

Easy enough. Look at /etc/slackware-version to see which version of Slackware your Amigo is using. Then download the xfree 3.3.x server pkgs for that from:
ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/(version here).
For amigo2:
ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...3.3.6-servers/
Those should be in
Have you tried using the xvfb frame buffer?

I have the same 7543 card. Just use xfree86setup instead of xfconfig and it'll default to using a vesa Xserver. I'm seeing 800x600 256 colors. 500 mb hdd and 40 mb ram on an old Hitachi notebook.

hope it helps.

My laptop is an old Compaq 5200 with cl 7543 graphics chip, 24MB RAM.

I tried every xf86config selection...
I finally got xfree86 to work using xfree86setup and selecting default.

On my laptop this only works when booting cold, pressing F8 at the startup beep and selecting DOS command line only (option 5 on my system).

Also have CL GD7543.
Here are two XF86Config setups for this GD chipset:
