How did you install Informix client ?
Last time I had to install it, I had to do the following :
1) cpio in the /informix directory from the cd
2) type ./installsomething in that directory.
3) vi /etc/services, adding the services.

If you installed Informix that way, the answer is simple :
remove the filesystem, and forget about /etc/services.
