New user can't see partitions in FTP

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi

I have set a new user up on AIX 5.3 to just act as an FTP user. Our system uses FTP transfers from desktop windows PC's for voice and image files.

However, I can log in using the ftp user fine, but can't see any partitions on the server. sftp seems to work ok. Another user on the system with the same credentials works fine.

It's not entered in the /etc/ftpuser. Is there some other place i'm potentially missing s security change, that i'm unaware of. I am a relative n00b with AIX i'm afraid.

Cheers

Lee

No worries everyone, problem solved. It would appear that using FTP as a user account name was not the best idea I had today.

It uses as FTP as a reserved word of some sort, when using ftp, surprisingly. Therefore, when using the ftp username to log into ftp, it treats it as a guest user, thus having no priviledges to view the system. Even though it works fine as a normal unix login.
