We have an IBM RISCSystem/6000 250 workstation.
As per the security guidelines we have to set
a power-on password. Please advise us how to
set the power-on password in this work station.

From what I recall you will have to boot the system up into sms mode and it is located under one of the menus I forgot which one but you will be able to go inside of them and then you should see it.
But how to go to SMS mode to set the password.
What are the keys we need to press?
In solaris it is stop + A, What is the equivalent command in AIX.
I believe the key you want to press is '1' (one). When you turn on your system, it should show this on the screen as it initializes your hardware and before the OS starts loading.
I read somewhere pressing '1'(one) to go to SMS mode is for ASCII terminal otherwise it is F1
but any of these two characters are working to go to SMS mode. Whenever I reboot the work station
directly booted from hard disk and console login is diplayed finally. I think the display mode is
off in SMS setting am I correct?(nothing is displayed for a while) Then how to turn-on this
display mode? correct me if I am wrong. Unixrao
