How to mount a new disk

Hey ya
I've got a problem.I'm using AIX5.2 L.I need some free space so i put a new disk. But I don't know how to make it usable.I've got hdisk0 where I mounted some file systems. What I need is to mount hdisk1 over one directory /data.

When I use command lspv AIX shows me that hdisk1 hasn't got Volume Group and it's not active

Please could You help me

Hi, VDC.
You need to put hdisk1 in a "volume group" (a set of disks") , create a filesystem inside this volume group, and mount the filesystem.
Type the following
smit vg
choose "add a volume group"
choose hdisk1
choose a name for your volume group
accept everyghing else, and then type
lspv # in order to see that hdisk1 is available as part of a volume group. Then
smit fs
choose add a filesystem
choose your volume group name
choose the filesystem size, mount point, etc.
accept everything else

Then, type
mount -a
