Default print settings on AIX (5.2) that does not have SysV printing enabled

I am trying to change the default print settings on an AIX (5.2) box
that does not have SysV printing enabled.
I found the settings for page length and line density in the print
spool section of smit. However, I haven't found a way to change the
characters per inch to 12. ie. The equivalent of "lp -o cpi=elite" in
SysV parlance.
I know smit is using the command "piochpq" to set the options (F6
output) but I cannot seem to find a list of valid attributes to send.
The printer is an EPSON DFX-8000 on a network (HP JetDirect server.) I
have the manual for the printer with escape codes if needed.
