Hi,

I want to print from AIX 5.3/6.1 using 'pr' preprocessing filter and 'PCL' print file type.

Steps:

1. Smitty

2. Print Spooling

3. Create a print queue(remote->Generic)

4. change the attributes for that print queue.

5. Change print file type to PCL and preprocessing filter to 'pr'.

6. Select Separator pages as "Header for Job;Trailer for job"

7. Select A4 paper

8. Enter

9. Exit Smitty

Give print using lp.

Trailer page is getting printed in 2 pages if i select A4 paper. If i choose letter paper, it s printing properly in one page.

I had captured network packets and saw that the trailer data is different between A4 paper and Letter paper.

A4 paper's trailer has CR,LF extra.

Same data has been given. Only change is that A4 and Letter.


Has anybody tried this option.

Please help me as it urgent for me to complete my project.

i if really understand your needs...

change/ show print queue characteristic -> Default print job attributes -> Add line feed or carriage return - you can play with this stuff... also you can check number of lines etc....
