How can i change the Keyboard-Konfiguration from us to de_DE.UTF8

Hi,

it is possible to change the keyboard-layout for root direct after login and before startx?
I need everywhere a qwerty-keyboard for root.

Thanks!

Look in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst for the choices for keyboard model and layout. To set it the way you want use setxkbmap. You can put the command in your .xinitrc file.

Bad news for beginners:
4MLinux offers custom keyboard layout in X only.

Good news for advanced users:
4MLinux can make use of Debian, Fedora, and Slackware packages. The following should work:
Code:
dpkg -i package.deb
rpm -i package.rpm
installpkg package.txz
Let's ask Slackware for help :-)
1) Download kbd-1.15.3-i486-2.txz here:
http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwa...1/slackware/a/
2) Install it:
Code:
installpkg kbd-1.15.3-i486-2.txz
3) Edit /etc/init.d/autostart.sh by adding the following line:
Code:
loadkeys de
Done!
Now the "de" layout will be loaded during the boot time.

Now it is good to know, that all my try and error in the to last days could not work because 4MLinux offers custom keyboard layout in X only.

thanks

@hartmut24 I've made a decision to include the loadkeys utility (with a simple configuration file /etc/kbd.conf) in 4MLinux 14.0 BETA, which will be released in a few days.

Thanks for helping me to improve my distro !

Dear zk1234 ...;
I think, this is a good decision.
I'm happy!

thanks

PS.: 24-Sept-2015: in 4MLINUX-14.0 it works!
