Voted mplayer, since that's what I've used with SMPlayer, and occasionally I use it in ASCII mode for fun.

But seeing it has some successors I might give them a try in 2017.


(Also, I often use SMPlayer as an audio player too, especially if some of my songs have video material / lyrics attached, while other don't).

Nah, but I get the joke :P

My name comes from one time I was looking for fantasy names for tabletop roleplaying, and I spelled Fenix backwards and decided it sounds awesome.

I am partial to Xplayer the default video player for Mate and Cinnamon in Linux Mint 18.X. Very basic but has worked flawlessly so far.

I also still use VLC and Kaffeine at times.

^ you mean smplayer with either mplayer or mpv as backend?
