A new category last year, with a few changes this year.

Being on openSUSE, of course my choice was RPM, though there is nothing bad I could say about dpkg either. Just RPM is what I prefer.

Love pacman overall. I use apt most due to my love of Debian, but pacman is IMO the best package manager.

rokytnji 12-28-2016 01:18 PM

voted dpkg.

stanvan 12-28-2016 03:15 PM

Voted dpkg. Have used mostly Debian family stuff forever.

I think aptitude/apt-get should have its own listing. That's just me.

Don't forget that apt now is it's own program seperate from the legacy apt-* suite.

fatmac 12-31-2016 07:34 AM

Voted dpkg as apt wasn't listed separately. :)

wolsonjr 01-03-2017 08:10 PM

apt-get with some Synaptic depending on what I'm doing.

Crippled 01-05-2017 12:23 PM

Synaptic

I vote for Synaptic. Why is there no listing for Synaptic?

Synaptic isn't a package manager, it's a GUI front end.

Then I vote none of the above because I only use Synaptic.

Synaptic uses the dpkg format on the backend.

I may now be mostly using RPM, but pacman remains the best: efficient, straight-foward, flexible . . . who could ask for anything more.

decodedthought 01-06-2017 10:58 AM

pacman for me too
