i3 is the most popular of all tiling wm's on this poll.
what more do you want?
or do you want people to change their habits?

fwiw, i think tiling and stacking wm's should go seperately; it's comparing apples & oranges otherwise.

I do not want people to do anything. As far as I'm concerned, they can be using Windows 3.11. It is just, based on seeing it pop up in various fora / sites / posts, I was under the impression that it was more popular. Having said that, you're right, for a tiling wm, it did well.

As for splitting the two categories, I agree that would make more sense to have a separate tiling wm category.

I don't think that is a good idea. Awesome, for example, is a tiling WM, but can be used perfectly fine as a floating WM, too, so where would you put it?

So it might just be best to stick to a general windows manager poll.

I think that this year's wm poll is the best yet, because it 'forced' users to select a wm they actually use as a wm rather than the one that gets included in a desktop-environment. kudos to jeremy for making the change.

Both. VLC appears in at least 2 categories (Video and Audio) without any issues.
