I actually use SMPlayer, but that's just a nice front end GUI for mplayer.

I use mplayer
It has such a good keyboard control while playing.

I am gonna switch to mpv as it supports wayland.

For front ends to popular media players, I like flxine, xineui and flvlc. I've also been using more lightweight single video format players that work with SDL such as theoraplay, flxplay, webm-player.

I love SMPlayer. VLC is useful, as well.

I have also been a happy mpv user for the last few months. Before that I used mostly gnome-mplayer.
