For me, Linux Mint 17 walks alone with ease of installation, use, configuration, reliability, security, and versatility. Everything I have used "just works," right out of the box.
It's not on the list. My desktop distro is Linux Lite since 08/14. This box is Ram challenged and very old, Lite is a perfect fit for me, using v2.0, easy to install and use, support and community are great!
I still like the Ubuntu infrastructre (so sue me), and hate Unity, and love the GNOME 2 interface that I started with so long ago. I used Mint for MATE, the interface I like the best, but I found Mint to be...annoying. I installed Ubuntu MATE 14.04, and as happy as a clam with it; it's nearly as lightweight as LXDE or XCFE, and nowhere near as lightweight as Enlightenment. It's also more full-featured than any other lightweight deskrop I've tried; it's just right for me. So there.

I really like elementary OS Luna for its look feel usability it's awesome!!! And I can't wait for Freya to come out.
I know i can't have two favorites and since it isn't on the list I will add it as a side note. I also reall like Peach OSI it's super cool and nice to use.
