View Poll Results: Video Media Player Application of the Year
I use smplayer on all my linux distros - there is no one to vote for. I know that it is "front end" for mplayer, but...in my opinion mplayer, "on his own", is rather poor.

Another vote for VLC. I used to love Kaffeine and used it even under XFCE (which I've used for some time now) but I just used VLC more and more and now it's my video player of choice. I can even use my netbook as a remote-control, used to be able to use my iPad (but that's another story) and should I ever buy something Android I know I could use that too.
I voted kaffeine last year after becoming fond of it on Opensuse which it is supplied with the default kde install.
Kaffeine had issues playing some of my mkv files though and i was forced to use VLC.
I don't know why but i haven't taken to VLC. I've since moved to Kplayer, which is kde gui version of Mplayer with a single window interface i appreciate.
This year mplayer gets my vote.

I know what you mean -- it took me a while to come around to using it instead of Kaffeine as a day-to-day player. I think there's something "Windowsy" about the interface that I'm not keen on but it seems to do the job so I've learned to live with it.
