xchat is dead now. "Hexchat" should be in this list as actively maintained replacement. It works great!

goumba 12-17-2013 08:59 AM

Too bad I can't do two... it's weechat for IRC and Pidgin for everything else (whose interface when using IRC IMO is horrid).

xtemp09 12-17-2013 09:20 AM

Miranda-NG!

jeremy 12-17-2013 11:01 AM

Hexchat has been added.

where is thunderbird?

jeremy 12-18-2013 10:19 AM

Thunderbird is an email app, not a messaging app.

sorry, I thought that as there wasn't an email app section it was included in the messaging app section.

jeremy 12-18-2013 04:46 PM

As it's a fairly nebulously defined category, it's possible we'd be willing to include email clients next year based on feedback (especially considering we recently removed the email client category).

Actually the latest version of Thunderbird includes Chat out of the box with support for Facebook, Google Talk, IRC, Twitter and XMPP..

This is not an endorsement of it though. I'd rather it was still just an e-mail client without the bloat
