Open Source Game of the Year
What's your favorite Open Source Game?

NetHack - that's the only open-source game I play these days (+ Minecraft)
|
What about GNU Backgammon ? Again - i am too late.
|
I chose Xonotic, with Open Arena as a close second. Just about the only thing missing from Xonotic is maps, though the stock ones are very good. I also like Open Arena because there are packages available for several distros and it runs good on dated hardware.

Um.... Like I would have any idea whatsoever LOL.

spring rts ? minetest ? pioneer ?
i'm sure there are a great many more excellent games out, not on the list so far. a quick search around "top ten games of 2012" and the like, will no doubt find handfulls of blogs and articles rich in other awesome suggestions. the list to vote for up there looks a bit 2005ish. there are new open source games out there... they just dont get the advertising budget. idk. i've stopped caring about all games, since the news we could be getting elite4 in early 2014. ~highly unlikely to be opensourced, but quite probably on linux at some point. ... so long as we keep making sure braben knows there's big demand for it. elite:dangerous, on kickstarter. :) make it so. |
Pioneer and Minetest have been added.

Loved XCOM. UFO: Alien Invasion it is! :-D
|
Can we add stepmania? It's both open source and available for linux natively.
|
StepMania has been added.

*sigh*
If only ET still ran properly on most modern Linuxes (without having to do so serious "tweaking"). Other players to shoot would also be a plus. :-D A victim of insufficient library/whatever standards, I suspect. *ducks for cover* |
I'm running ET on Kubuntu 12.04, so no problem with that. Only problem I have is sound, but I blame that on a still immature sound system on linux.
