I have to admit it I like Gnome 3 but I like MATE even more and I use MATE more than any other DE.

Xfce makes for a lean, mean desktop machine. 8)

sycamorex 12-18-2012 02:27 AM

If I used any of the DEs, it'd be XFce

brianL 12-18-2012 03:46 AM

KDE (4.9.4, thanks to Alien Bob) on my desktop, Xfce on my laptop and netbook.

jezzivi 12-18-2012 04:08 AM

KDE on my desktop, Openbox on my netbook.

 .............Open box......yes it can be used in place of..................

LXDE hands down, though I rarely use it. I always wind up hacking my desktop together out of dzen, dmenu, a tiling wm, conky, and a bunch of scripts. Perhaps "keyboard driven Erector set" should be added to list? :)

Keith Hedger 12-18-2012 05:50 AM

Switched to Xfce4 when Gnome devs lost the the plot, now on LFS.

kooru 12-18-2012 05:54 AM

xfce :)

RockDoctor 12-18-2012 06:27 AM

My preferred DE is LXDE, but my vote went to Cinnamon because I find it to be Gnome3 done right

metalaarif 12-18-2012 08:40 AM

Gnome

netmanny 12-18-2012 10:58 AM

As far as I'm concern there is no better desktop environment than e17.

cxbii 12-18-2012 11:05 AM

I like KDE!

snowpine 12-18-2012 11:31 AM

Gnome, it's what's in the news.
