Mobile Distribution of the Year

A new category last year. Which distribution do you think is best for your mobile device?

I wish I could vote in this poll, but I would have to admit that Android significantly failed to impress me so far.. I'd go with iOS anytime right now. With Android ICS we'll see what it does when Motorola release the update for my Razr..

lewnidas_ 12-30-2011 10:20 AM

I'm in love with android and all the things that i can do with this...!!!! :) :) :)

honeybadger 12-30-2011 02:25 PM

I was thinking mego but then mego did not apeal to me. Then came Android. Then I rooted it and now it feels like linux again - on my phone :)

raju.mopidevi 12-31-2011 07:53 AM

Android, I like it !

EricTRA 12-31-2011 08:13 AM

Hello,

Installed CyanogenMod on my HTC Desire and it rocks!

Kind regards,

Eric

Unless there's something to CyanogenMod that I've missed, how can it be an alternative to Android? It's a custom ROM for Android is it not?

Will we add different linux kernel builds to the favourite distribution / favourite DE polls? :)

xma 01-03-2012 09:32 AM

My N900 is surpassing my android devices by far ! (so +1 for maemo)

prushik 01-03-2012 09:41 AM

How about buildroot? I know its a HUGE stretch, but its a pretty impressive system.

Correct in some ways. Cyanogen Mod is a "fork" of the Android Source. It's like comparing Ubuntu to vanilla Linux and the vanilla application sources (all default values, no patches, etc).

I went for webOS based purely on its potential. With Android increasingly mired in patent madness, webOS could easily become the choice for many handset manufacturers. Plus, my one encounter with an HP Touchpad showed just how good webOS is technically.

Yeah, I know. But its designed to aid in the development of mobile/embedded systems.

FredGSanford 01-13-2012 01:59 PM

I would have to go with Android since I know little about the other choices.

Sailor Tom 01-14-2012 06:41 AM

CyanogenMod is great. Reminds me of the likes of XBMC.

glaudiston 01-16-2012 04:42 AM

I have android maemo and wm... without doubt maemo is the best... for me at least.

noah_vale 01-17-2012 06:07 AM

Android on my Wildfire S is just the dog's wotsits!

ps_sabu 01-17-2012 12:29 PM

Android

xev 01-19-2012 08:13 AM

+1 Maemo.

glaudiston 01-20-2012 08:26 AM

maemo works great...

thezayas 02-02-2012 10:42 AM

Android is very easy to use for me

nronksr 02-02-2012 12:35 PM

I'd like to say Tizen, but this is 2011. Some good things are looking its way for 2012 though. I'm excited to see what develops. Maemo +1 for now.

savotije 02-06-2012 12:40 PM

I am using android. :)

Satyaveer Arya 02-08-2012 11:58 AM

I love Android.

ghostnik11 02-08-2012 12:26 PM

I think instead of cyanogenmod, you should just say Custom Roms because there are many Android users who use other roms other than cyanogenmod. Like for example MIUI Roms or any of the Virtuous Roms and many others. I am one of those users who uses Virtuous Rom on my android mobile.

To justify jeremy's choice, Cyanogen Mod is used as the base for most Roms. MIUI is one of them.

Well that's true, then Cyanogen Mod is my choice. Thanks for pointing out the obvious which i clearly over looked.

Android

Android.

I own and use Android, Maemo and iOS devices. And would rate the OSs in that order.
I love the idea of a "real" Linux-based mobile OS like in a desktop/server system.

Buying a MeeGo phone today is not an option for me (due to the direction Nokia has taken).
