MPlayer. Mind you, over the last year I came across a few slightly broken video files that only VLC could play by default (I guess it's a matter of flags/options)

Well, I mostly use GNOME MPlayer, but it still uses regular ol' MPlayer as its backend :D

I normally use Gnome-Mplayer, but I'm quite impressed by Parole.

Mplayer is the backend to the media players I use on both the desktop and the N800.
