For the second year in a row - Emacs

frieza 01-13-2011 11:11 AM

kwrite, syntax hilighting and saves directly to FTP servers

Mousepad, because it's fast and simple. I use emacs myself, but mousepad is so straight for end users...

I wish I had been able to pull the lever for Geany in this category. Even though I switched from GNOME to KDE this past year Geany is still my number one app for basic text editing. It's so much easier to use than Kate that I find myself editing text in Geany nine times out of ten.

As Mark from Ark would say...nano nano! For gui base, Gedit.

eveningsky339 01-13-2011 08:21 PM

Never found anything that beat gedit. I use geany from time to time as well.

ubyt3m3 01-13-2011 10:43 PM

vi/vim... not interested in any other editors.

MrCode 01-13-2011 11:30 PM

nano for CLI, Mousepad for GUI (mostly because that's what Xfce comes with ).

linuxlover.chaitanya 01-14-2011 01:08 AM

As always, vim.

inspiron_Droid 01-14-2011 01:27 AM

Nano for clieditor and Mousepad for gui editor

Hangdog42 01-14-2011 08:23 AM

Can we get Geany put on the list?

brianL 01-14-2011 09:35 AM

I'm voting for little nano this year.

bathory 01-14-2011 09:39 AM

A vote for vi too. Can't teach an old dog new tricks
