MeeGo, even though its current release is 1.1, is far from mature or stable. It is going to take a while before it is ready to replace Maemo on handheld devices. I recently gave MeeGo a try on my N900, and have nothing good to say about it. It looks horrible and is painfully slow. Maemo, on the other hand, is quite a joy to work with.

Besides that, it must be noted that Maemo and MeeGo are very different in essence. Maemo is 'deb' based, MeeGo uses 'rpm'. MeeGo uses Qt, Maemo is Gnome/Gtk+. I could go on for a while. My point is, that you should not dismiss Maemo just like that, only because MeeGo is its likely successor. Especially since this poll is about 2010; MeeGo didn't count AT ALL in 2010. A vote for Maemo CANNOT automatically be considered a vote for MeeGo. It's just not the same thing.

That said, I don't know anything about Moblin ;-)

There's nothing promising about that...

I would suggest removing Ubuntu Mobile from the list and replacing it with Maemo.

As Maemo was a standalone release for part of 2010, it has been added. Both Maemo and Ubuntu Mobile will be removed next year.

Maemo has the most versatility of the ones I have tested (android, meego, ubuntu mobile and maemo). Perhaps Ubuntu Mobile may be more versatile, but relatively few Ubuntu packages are compiled for ARM and it's not a very finger-friendly OS.

Android because it's the best at this time, but I'm hoping to be able to vote for Ubuntu in the future.

android obviously did more this year but i voted for openmoko because i like their openness and their rool-your-own mentality.
