Open office was my choice even when I used windows, despite getting M$ Office for free via my wife's employer. It's never even been taken out of the shipping package it came in...Visit my EBAY store later, I have for auction ONE NIB .......

With my 128MB of RAM, GNOME Office always save my day, and the compatibility is not a problem.

I vote for OpenOffice because it is better than others, but I have to place this remark that only Writer is really good, not just better than others. Calc lacks some functions and has a dramatic nonintuitive user interface. impress doesn't Impress me either. There is still some work to do.

This week something funny happened though. A few colleagues at my office bought a netbook or a laptop with Windows and they had that wonderful 60-days evaluation version of MSOffice installed. All those pop-ups drove them insane and they preferred not to buy that office suite for more money than their laptop had costed. They had installed OO, and they love it.

I don't do a lot with Calc, but I do create weekly invoices with it, and I've never NOT gotten paid, regardless of submission cut off or version of office (or office suite for that matter) some company I'm doing work for might have. I can't say the same for a lot of people I've worked with who either didn't know about OOo or didn't know in time. It's iteroperability makes up for a lot IMO.

Afterall, the job isn't done until the paperwork is finished...

in our office we have been using ms office 2007, i want to complete replaced. unfortunately, all the new ext like .docx,.xlxs file type support by sun star office paid version. is there any where we can create office 2007 document and no costs as open source community.

also the behavior of calc in openoffice not similar to ms-excel 2007, like auto generation numbers series does work. when you say abcxyz-00,abcxyz-01 and drag to abcxyz-99. in excel 2007 it work and in calc it does not.

i vote which is highest performance, stable never crashed and recoverable data(even if power goes save in temp/archive folders). so bottom line COMPLETE 100% replacement of ms-office 2007

I'm primarily engaged in sysadmin related tasks so don't do a lot of office suite stuff but when I do interoperability with the evil MS Office is a MUST so OpenOffice.org gets the call.

Openoffice is big but it does a good job. I get annoyed with it when I am setting up an older, less-powerful computer : that's when I go to Abiword.

I voted OO.o because despite using it for years, 2009 was the year it finally worked well.

OO.org, but koffice is massively closing... if they keep up the good work, my vote may be changing for next year =D

I use Abiword a lot and appreciate Gnumeric, but I have never actually actually seen the point in perceiving them as an office suite.
I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really hate the Koffice2 interface.
So my Koffice vote is transferred to OOo this time.
