Mplayer. I voted totem last year, but when I found out mplayer has vpdau feature that use GPU to render HD video it knock everything else out of my mind.

raju.mopidevi 01-14-2010 05:53 PM

when i was using smplayer, i got some distrubances. i.e. if i switch to the other window suddently sound stops. where as VLC has no problems for me.

I voted for VLC but I like the older version than current because it open up only one window. Some other features I like:
- adjust subtitle and audio with: h, j, k, l.
- background for subtitle

VLC is my favorite for most things. I've just had an easy time with it over the years so it will always be my #1

raju.mopidevi 01-20-2010 05:46 PM

VLC plays the media with higher sound than others. It plays every thing. I like this.

SMPlayer! Plays Everything for me, plus a great GUI for mplayer.

I like totem, especially now that it has support for DVD menus. It has a clear, friendly layout and the YouTube/BBC integration is excellent. Now if you're listening, get the subtitle and audio track selection and I will LOVE this forever.

RealPlayer?

No RealPlayer? I think it should be an option.

jeremy 01-21-2010 04:15 PM

Helix is the Open Source version of RealPlayer.
