Am a contributor to OpenVAS and i must say it has exceeded my expectations and also not to mention the wide community which supports and contributes towards its development.

No Metasploit?

raju.mopidevi 01-13-2010 09:18 PM

wire shark

lupusarcanus 01-14-2010 11:39 PM

Where's aircrack-ng? Thats my favorite.

Web31337 01-15-2010 08:57 AM

in doubt. nmap is a port scanner basically...
and well... i doubt if to choose tcpdump or wireshark: wireshark can interpret tcpdump's dumps in GUI, while tcpdump shows itself quite good on console. I'd voted for both but in this case, i'll vote for tcpdump anyways.

I would say openssh is my favourite network security tool, I wouldn't be able to do remote sysadmin without it.

r1d3r 01-23-2010 12:51 AM

nmap and aircrack-ng

tommcc 02-03-2010 05:03 PM

hmm - No Vyatta?

vss2094 02-04-2010 02:20 AM

Use clamav & nmap mostly.

Wow! This was one of the few polls that I had to stop and think before I made my decision. There is some stuff competition here and it's very difficult to choose one.

Nessus relegated into obscurity by greed. A fitting end.

P.S.; Jeremy, one you should include next year is Bro.

raju.mopidevi 02-09-2010 04:55 PM

wireshark got 2nd. I thought it would be first.
