skype open source? i wish pidgin could use the skype protocol, at least for text chat...

Agreed. They are planning to open source the 'UI' only. Not the complete solution we would like, but a step in the right direction.

well skype sucks anyway, so it doesn't matter, because I doubt it will win. It's damn buggy and very insecure.

Pidgin for everything except IRC where I use X-Chat. I'm glad that audio/video has finally arrived in Pidgin. Hopefully a/v support for the remaining protocols will arrive this year

Replace centericq with centerim. Centerim is a fork of the first, which is no longer mantained.
