I wish I could cast 2 votes here. Both pidgin and irssi share love from me, but I use them in different ways. Irssi for irc and pidgin for everything else. I tried irc on pidgin for a while but didn't like it, as it is lacking some capabilities that I like to have with IRC connections.
But, since I use aim/msn more than IRC, pidgin has to get my vote.
