What do you use to watch video?

I'd vote for SMPlayer if it was included. It's powerful but light-weight and supports features in mplayer SVN like DVD menus that gmplayer and the other mplayer GUIs don't.

From my understanding it's just a complete frontend interface for mplayer itself, so it would be sort of like putting mplayer up there twice.

We have no plans to add any of the mplayer fronetends - there are far too many of them:

I like the how versatile VLC for streaming and play back. But I also use mplayer for playback.

I used vlc in my 'windows' days, and I still use it with debian etch. But I am very impressed with mplayer, specially how well it works with divx. From my experience I could not full screen divx on vlc, but mplayer works like a charm

vlc seems to handle videos better. On my wife's EEE PC smplayer chokes on videos that vlc plays flawlessly

I've never felt comfortable using xine - It has always (well since 2004) been between mplayer and vlc.
However, at the end of the day, I prefer mplayer (no frontends)

For some reason, mplayer has choppy video playback and colorization problems on some of my videos. I hadn't even tried VLC until this last year, but now I have to say that it's done a near perfect job playing everything back.

I use mplayer for every video and DVD playback. It is the most reliable media player and it also has the most tolerance. VLC has never been reliable. Xine is also have been lacking in reliability. I do not know why people say that VLC and Xine is reliable to them. I tried compiling both VLC and Xine different and they always come out unreliable.
