My vote goes to Evolution Mail. From when I first tried it a couple of years ago it has greatly improved. Overall it has satified all my email needs!

I don't think Pine and Alpine should be separate. They're pretty much the same! You have Emacs and XEmacs together in the text editor category, so why not the same here?

pine will actually be completely removed next year, as it's no longer under development.

Evolution definitely. Myself coming from the Windows world using Outlook, Evolution definitely wins. Thunderbird, IMO, is alright. A little too minimal for my tastes.

I use CommuniGate (my ISP's webmail interface), awaiting their switch to SquirrelMail.

BTW, since SquirrelMail is a web-based e-mail application, is it really an e-mail client, & does it belong in this poll? Doesn't Gmail have an equal claim?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see it (SquirrelMail) because I use none of the others regularly.

The two webmail applications were added last year, due to overwhelming member demand. They differ from Gmail in that you can download them - they're applications. Gmail is a hosted service.

Still using Thunderbird, but find myself using my ISP's browser application more and more as I can access it from anywhere.

Claws is THE mail client. Lightweight, a doddle to configure, pgpinline encrypted messages, aaaaaand........ how do you backup claws mail? Yup just copy and paste the .claws directory and the .mailout dircetory and the ones in your /home dir to a USB pebdrive. Then you can paste them into the /home folder of ANY distro with claws and it will just work. No config, no messing and all your messages and addresses backed up. Claws rocks!!!.

I hardly use a mail client much anymore and use web based mail, but I would say T-bird.
