Inkscape. although i'm not an expert in vector editing, it looks like an example of professionalism in graphics for the Linux desktop.
maybe my choice is influenced by the fact i work in the 3d industry and i see the flaws of Blender and Gimp. there is no FLOSS hope for me now, as IMO Blender took the wrong path (for example i think K-3D is on a good one, but far behind) and don't do too much 2d though i think Gimp is too stubborn in thinking by "it can be done" instead of productivity.

Out of Blender, GIMP and ImageMagick I don't use Blender. Finally voted for GIMP

IMHO "Graphics Application of the Year" should be divided to "Raster Graphics Editor of the Year", "Vector Graphics Editor of the Year" and "Graphics Viewer of the Year".
In my case corresponding applications will be GIMP, none, gqview. In case of Windows users it can be Photoshop, Corel Draw and ACDSee :-)

Inkscape is a hell of a program. Finally I was able to switch all my "old" projects from Freehand to Inkscape.
