From saurbraten.org

The engine supporting the game is entirely original in code & design, and its code is Open Source (ZLIB license, read the docs for more on how you can use the engine).
Yeah, it's OSS.

we need Urban Terror 4.1 in the poll!!!

Alien_Hominid 01-14-2009 10:50 PM

They are not OSS games, because their content is not compatible to GPL.

Really ? Look what I found in the index page of their site. Although I don't know whether only the engine is open source or everything.

Please don't bring license zealotry into this. The Zlib license is a well established OSS license. It meets the OSI definition, has passed the DFSG and is FSF approved. Further, it is GPL-compatible if you cared to look it up.

Seriously though, Saurbraten is in the Debian repositories. That means that at least the Debian folks thought it counted.

Urban Terror is not Open Source. WRT the engine being open vs the game being open, we'll revisit the criteria for being included in this poll next year and either discontinue the poll altogether or have very explicit inclusion criteria.
