However, it's obvious that my sense of humor had not yet reached my brain.

I see what you're saying. And you're right.

I'm old, my friend. My eyes are fading and my mind is beginning to slip. I've done a lot of those things under DOS and early versions of Windows for my own use (and I've been 'out of the loop' since Win98 was released), and I'm just not up to the task of getting creative in a whole new language.

However, I do still try to contribute something. I spend a lot of my spare time Googling for solutions to other people's problems here at LQ. And one thing I've learned from that is that in many cases it's much easier to type a command in the terminal rather than opening a GUI and searching for what you need to click. But there have been a few times where I had to shake my head, laugh, and walk away- like when I suggest that someone enter:

and they reply with (You're gonna love this one):

"I don't know where to type that!"

"Rah! Rah! WE'RE the best." seems to be a impulse hardwired into the human nervous system. . . at least the ones powered by testosterone without adequate outlet.

Personally, I read these entries to pick up mini-reviews that might entice me to try out a distro that I haven't already. Or one that I haven't tried in several years that may have changed for the better.

Mindless enthusiasm from someone I don't know isn't likely to convince me of much. I say "mindless" because it seems many people can't take the time/effort to rationally state why they choose one distro over another.

Let's! Maybe there's a world record to be set...

You mean "because it rocks!" isn't a valid answer? :lol:

One can speculate if there was a poll for desktop distro of the year followed by one for second choice desktop distro of the year, the second choice poll would have at LEAST 60% less voters. Why? over half the voters either haven't tried anything else, or have tried 1 or 2 others before the one they have now and had bad experiences with them.
