rsnapshot has been added (don't know how I missed it in the first place - http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...with_rsnapshot).

i use rsync + tar but i voted bacula , is worth to use it and try it

I think the choices are apples and oranges here. We use Amanda as well as tar. Actually mostly tar within context of Amanda. Anyway, Amanda has been rock solid for us for many years - so gets my vote.

Where is SBackUp?

What is SBackUp? -- A link please.

I've used simplebackup and currently kbackup, but rsync is very useful for all my needs (winxp and gnu/Linux.

I like the following:
tar, zip, unzip, bzip2, bunzip2, gzip, gunzip, funzip, unzipsfx, bzip2recover. |
SBackup
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sbackup/
Quite simply program but for me it's fine. It has all useful features to me ;) |
rsync with G and sbackup...
|
rdiff-backup is an unreplacable linux backup utility for me. It's based on librsync, but keeps incremental snapshots so I think it deserves to be on the list.

Tons of tar files on my 16GB Kingston USB pen drive.

I always backup in stone, or at least tar.
