I use anjuta for C++. Are you guys saying there are better alternatives. (Along the lines of what bloodshed devcpp does in windows)

Kdevelop is the worst I have even seen.. I am going to vote for Eclipse unless Code::Blocks is added, because I would definitely vote for it if it was.

Is there anyway we could add Aptana? I have used Bluefish the last year until I found Aptana. I do understand that is under different licenses but the community edition is great. Worth adding to the list.

Netbeans 6 has really proved itself. It's 5.5 release was decent, but, after following it through all the beta, milestones, etc. I can say that it trumps even Eclipse.

It's still pretty new, and the install is hell for *nix, but it's a great IDE! For lack of Aptana, I guess I'll go with Zend studio. I used it while messing around with php, and it seemed very, very good.

ok , as you know ... i will always go for kylix ...

and i have downloaded this komodo and trying it now ... starting from the state of donno anything about perl , tcl , python and the rest of the "web"(donno which one is which one) stuffs ... i try to evolve an interest in doing them a bit ... hmm ... "no effect" ...

so try seeing it as a "filemanager" ... not bad but still seems like always missing something ... like other ide i have tried ...

will look into it further ...

Vim is just as much an IDE as GNU EMACS or XEmacs the only major end-user difference is in the key bindings.

Are they trying to revive the old vi / emacs holy war!?

i dont think so ... this sort of things are irrelevant nowadays ... as most of the app are kind of like equally good ... maybe somewhere else but not linux ...

i think linux redefined what is a desktop and this most probably will be redefined again and again ...

Hey, just downloaded Netbeans 6.0 and it blew my mind. I am still lost with keyboard shortcuts, being used to Eclipse so long, but it is working great. Next year, if I am alive, I know which one to vote for

whenever i came across ide/s concerning sun's java and stuffs ... i normally stay away from them but hard to resist ... they are really scary to me on my machine ...

btw , is netbeans something behind eclipse which is sort of like a "front-end" to it ... ?? java and stuffs are really confusing to me ...

probably i need that "push" to go further a bit than plain java as maybe i can "force" myself to know(and to learn) a bit more by using a good ide first ...
