I've to agree with that. I'm using Dolphin myself with Kubuntu and I am pretty sure a lot of Kubuntu users out there are using it too.

To me it's a hard question- I use different file managers for different tasks. As far as ease of use and power, Xandros File Manager is hard to beat, but plain old Konqueror is faster, bash command line even faster, MC great for non X stuff, etc.

Anyone else noticed that Konqueor is also in the catagory for best web browser?

There should, perhaps, be a jack of all trades award newxt year... Though I can't say if it is really an award.

Where's dolphin? There is a KDE3 version, so it's already been released. It's the default for Kubuntu, and it's very light-weight for a file manager. Please add it to the list!

How about GNU coreutils? mv, cp, rm, tar, gzip, touch ... That's how I roll.

Konqueror has better tabbed browsing, split screen, it's application embedding is amazing.

I tribute to Krusader, for it makes switchin between windows/total commander and *N*X/krusader as painless as possible.

For a multiplatform nomad it's 'as it's thought to be' file manager.
And the graphical usage mode too.

That's what I expect of an FM in 2k7/2k8 year.

MC is an antique, imitating as it does Norton Commander
from DOS (and I wouldn't be surprised if the line goes back even further).
Because it's command line based it's just bloody fast. It's wonderful
for manually inspecting directory differences -- it's great for
reorganizing your files and trees. It's got a short learning curve,
though a couple of the useful advanced features would be nice to
discover more easilty. It can prune entire directory branches, but makes rm -R * quite a bit safer!
