Amarok all the way. "available on any operating system."? Is that true?
I thought that Amarok for windows is on the way but not yet released.

Still using xmms. The sound quality beats all others.
Second choice mpd/ncmpc and thirdly audacious.
Can't stand amarok.

I'm pretty sure JLP meant that Amarok is best compared to all other music players and managers

Personally I just upgraded to the newest version of Gnome, and have to say that Rhythmbox 0.11.3 is quite amazing, with built in visualisation (that can work on the root window), automatic cover art and lyrics downloads, etal. The only thing I don't like about is the way the "stop" concept seems to be missing - I fail to see how this makes it easier to understand (which I presume to be the reason for its absence).

Amarok always loses my playlists, but it's quite nice.

However, my vote goes to Rhythmbox - it's clean and wonderfully simple.

Amarok does anything I ever need to do to any of my multimedia.



If I ever need something smaller, I use Xine-UI (same backend).
